ERGONOMETRIC er·go·no·met·ric, adjective; derived from ergonomics – the applied science of equipment design, intended to maximize productivity by reducing operator fatigue and discomfort
When Kevin and Kathleen Kelly decided to design the most comfortable shooting shirt anywhere, they followed a design science called ergonometrics – they wanted their customers to be impressed. It’s a long word which describes the “ahhhhhh” of a Kevin’s ergonometric shooting shirt and Egyptian cotton poplin shirt. Kevin’s customers swear by it, especially during a long day in the field hunting. Constructed with the finest Egyptian Combed-Cotton that is very lightweight and feels luxurious. Kevin also insisted on an eight button front and longer tail so, as they say in ergonometrics , the shirt will stay nicely tucked in your pants!
Each shirt features underarm gussets, variegated elbow pleats and back bi-swing pleats. Well-constructed features allow the shirt to expand and contract with you as you move your arms, shoulders and torso during the day in every activity. Not only will you feel great in Kevin’s Ergonometric shirts but it may improve your shot too!!
Fall fashions are in and color palettes are reflecting a positive resurgence in faith and confidence according to Pantone – the company known for determining color trends in fashion and design globally. A strong connection to the land and the “quiet power of nature” inspired their color selections, reminding us of the beauty of the outdoors. There is a trend this fall and winter to remind us of the “deep-rooted sense of heritage.” These colors are a true reflection of Kevin’s customer’s who gain their strength with connection to the land as they wear these colors naturally.
The color forecasting agency Design Options brings a separate break down of colors for Fall and Winter 2013/14. They see:
Out of the woods
Mustard yellow and dark olive tones of timberland and wilderness accentuate understated and delicate shapes. Alabaster and cool grey shades provide texture and fluidity upon a canvas of countryside solitude. Mauve hues infused with refined silver tints provide a picture-perfect fusion of earthy elements.
When you travel through Kevin’s Catalog and our stores, you will see that these colors are found throughout. Not only do we keep a fashion forward eye designing fashion for menswear and womenswear each season, we also make sure our customers have the most beautiful selections for the outdoor enthusiast as they move throughout their lives, both in business and while entertaining. http://www.kevinscatalog.com
Kevin’s customers are familiar with this season’s color palette because in hunting, the need to blend into nature is second nature! We are glad to see the rest of the world enjoying what we have always loved best, colors that soothe and create a feeling of one with the outdoors – at least for this fall and winter season.
We had so much fun last Friday, our manager’s son came by to visit with his lab puppy Nelli. Immediately, we decided a photo shoot was in order and with iphones (and finally a good camera), we spent a few hours with Nelli as center and focus of our new game day merchandise and potentially our holiday dog! Nelli is only 12 weeks old but she was sweet and cooperative – she’s a star already and will eventually be retrieving birds in the field.
Our fall State Traditions tee and belts got everyone excited too – being in the south, we love our SEC and ACC football so there was no shortage of absolute loyalty to each school’s shirts . We decided to let everyone pick their colors and display to the world (along with Nelli)!

We had so much fun at the Kevin’s Man photo shoot yesterday we wanted to share a little of it with you. What is a Kevin’s Man? Very soon we will give you the details but until then, enjoy the pictures and here is the original Kevin!
Kevin’s growth over the past 40 years, from 200 square feet expanding to two stores, a catalog and an international clientele has been an amazing journey which is exciting to be a part of. But our growth is only possible because of the amazing staff that has been a part of Kevin’s throughout the journey. I wish we could mention everyone individually, but with limited space we can only really highlight a few – but each and every one of our staff is a superstar!
When you step into the 65,000 square foot warehouse you will always see the smiling Richard Florence and Clarence Bryant both 11 year veterans of Kevin’s. Richard started out in receiving and now runs shipping for Kevin’s Catalog. He prides himself on hard work and giving it his all, and always works hard to do the best job. When Clarence joined Kevin’s, a month after Richard, he had no idea what the catalog industry was all about, but now loves it , especially the receiving side of the business. He enjoys learning about new products that come in and loves the challenge of his work.
Truly, the heart and soul of Kevin’s Catalog is Rey Pineiro our Director of Marketing. Instrumental in the creation of Kevin’s Catalog, he works hard to insure customers can easily find what they want and have an outstanding experience both in print and online. After 8 years, no day is the same for “Mr. P “ as he is known in house. Mr. P works hard to keep everything fresh and new with many different creative looks, a key reason our customers enjoy shopping Kevin’s Catalog. He keeps the catalog and website interesting and alive.
Of course, you can’t say Kevin’s without talking about Gun’s and we are fortunate to have Mike Burnett running our internationally acclaimed gun department in Thomasville. For over four years, Mike conveys his passion for firearms through outstanding customer support. Ever since he he was a little boy he has loved guns. After serving in the Navy he wanted to still pursue this passion. Working at Kevin’s was the perfect fit. He doesn’t consider the Gun Department a career “It is who I am.” Mike’s most excited about the higher grade shotguns at Kevin’s and working with our customers who also share that same spirit.
Tallahassee was Kevin’s only store for many years, and there now there are many loyal customers who we have known since the first Kevin’s opened 40 years ago. We know their children and grandchildren, and our customers know that all the outdoor gear they need is at Kevin’s with expert help. If you happen to fish in the Tallahassee area, you probably know Lin Hudson, our Fish & Tackle Manager. His loyal customers feel at home with Lin and love learning about new products and swapping fish stories. Lin has been with Kevin’s since 1984, starting in Guns. Fishing is his passion and sharing that passion with his customers is why he wakes up in the morning happy.
There is always an employee that is key to success in business and for Kevin’s we have to nominate Sue Bratton! Miss Sue – Office Manager for over 16 years, is in charge of all things accounting and administrative for the entire Kevin’s operations. Miss Sue sits in our original Tallahassee store and loves hearing the hunting and fishing stories told by the customers and knows many by name. Accounting is what excites her – like a CSI investigator she loves to have everything in balance. “I enjoy working for Kathleen and Kevin they are super people, real human beings with great compassion for their customers and employees. Many students who work here, go on to work here during college and then after graduation, come back to work at Kevin’s, I think that says it all about why we love working here.”
